Hey everyone, welcome to KFAM!!! This blog will be about the things I have learned from my Family Relation class up at BYU-I  throughout the week. I will be posting about once a week. I'll keep you updated on what day I am planning on posting.  A little bit about myself, I am a freshman in college, I absolutely love to sing, act, cook, bake, play with kids, and eat chocolate.  I can't wait to start this blog and see all the comments you guys leave me!!

Fathers and Incomes

This week in class we were talking about the mother and father’s role in the home, but also things that can be positives and negatives in the home. Those things included incomes, education, and things that cause stress. During class we talked about he role of mothers and how they are usually the ones at home with the kids. Mothers teach the kids life skills in the home that they need to know on a daily basis. Then we started taking about the roles of fathers in the home. Our teacher asked us what we thought of when he mentioned the word fathers. As we all started discussing what we thought and one of the things that was said was that fathers fill in what the mothers can’t. As we all know mothers are pretty awesome, but they can’t do everything. They need help, and that is where fathers come in. Fathers can help fill the aspect of fixing things around the yard. Parenting

So, this week in class we were talking about parenting. With that we pretty much talked about almost everything that pertains to parenting. So why parent? Well first we are the ones who decided to have kids in the first place. Automatically we are the parents and our children need someone to guide them along in life. Parents are mainly the ones responsible for making sure that their kids are educated in all aspects. Parents need to make sure that parenting is one of their central primary roles. Mainly parenting involves both the father and the mother. Not all families are like that. Some examples we came up with were, the mom raising the kids or even the dad just raising the kids. In other cases, the children would be sent to live with other family members like grandparents, uncles, and aunts. While other kids were sent to day cares, military schools or even boarding schools. Sex Education and Sex

Class this week was very interesting. We talked about some very important and kind of uncomfortable things that need to be addressed no matter what. Those things were to explain sex education to kids and sex. Even though it was pretty uncomfortable I was able to understand a lot more about these topics. Teaching your kids about sex education is never really that fun, but we all know it is pretty necessary. So how do we know when to tell your kids about it. It all depends on your child’s age. At different stages of life your child needs so be more educated in sexual interactions. At most schools they will introduce some parts of sex education, but not all of it. Is it safe to completely trust the school system to teach kids about sex education? For me the answer is no. who ever is teaching could have different opinions on certain subjects like sex.
